After reading Sean's tutorial,I thought I would try some focus stacked shots.
18 shot stack done in Zerene Stacker.I ran the images with the program defaults.
The lighting isn't the best,but I'm pretty happy with the results of the stack.
Images taken with 5DII ,Sigma 150 macro, MR-EX14 ringlight.Tripod mounted focusing rail.
C&C welcomed.

The detail in this certainly amazing. You should certainly be happy with the results.
I agree with you own comment re the lighting, but that wasn't the purpose of the exercise.
