Two gorgeous images Kim. Not much to find fault with in these two images. The eyes say it all!

Thank you Manfred! His eyes are what caught my attention - they are very human-like.

EDIT - BTW, the black point, white point technique you shared with me awhile back has really helped my B&W conversions -- thank you!

Both great, Kim, but number one is my pick.

I had a Dalmatian when I was a kid. I love this breed and these are outstanding images.

    Hi Kim,

While they are great images, I am going to buck the trend and suggest that I'd have tried a little more space in front of the nose, especially on #1 (if they'd been mine).

At the moment, with shots like these, I have a bit of a preference for liking the eyes to be looking in to the corner of the shot, with this in mind and playing about with LyteBox, I think #1 works for me better as a square composition, starting from lower right corner, which adds some on left (in front of nose) and removes some from the top.

Adding more in front of the nose to #2, would almost end up with it looking like a square #1 though - not sure if that's a bad thing.

There's more white fur texture in #2, which I find appealing.

    Hope those thoughts help, Dave

Always appreciate a different point of view Dave, so thanks for your comment. Is this what you were envisioning for the 1st one:

    I think I'm seeing spots!

Yup, I think so, it might be slightly tighter cropped at the top than I had envisioned, but so close, it's not worth another version. (and besides, who says I'm right)

    Cheers, Dave

Great shots, Kim. Dalmatian's are so photogenic - and great dogs. Our Dalmatian of 13 years passed away 3 weeks ago after bringing joy to our family for years. Photos like this help us remember what great friends our pets can be.

Wow. Great subject, whisker sharp capture, and expert b&w processing. Well done, Kim.

I dunno Kim...I will go against the rest who likes #1 because I like #2 best...lesser eyes I suppose..
