    Hi all im new to HDR - how to create 3 bracketed exposures

    Hi all

    Im interested in trying out HDR.Hmm im not sure how to create those 3 subsequent different exposures before you can merge as HDR in photoshop ? Those 3 shots are taken with camera or edited in photoshop ?

    Hi Marmite - The basic way to create the shots necessary for HDR is to set a constant aperture and then take three shots, one at a "normal" exposure, one at 2 stops below (i.e. change the shutter speed by two stops downwards e.g if the normal shutter speed is 1/60th second, change it to 1/250th second) and one 2 stops above (i.e. change the shutter speed by two stops upwards in time e.g. if the normal shutter speed is 1/60th second two stops above will be 1/15th second).

    Normally, the camera, if it is capable of auto-bracketing, will take care of this for you.

    Having obtained the three shots you can then use software to combine them to give an HDR image, and then tone-map this image to give the finished image.
