Thanks for all the ideas, I will certainly store them away.
However, a member (I think I'd better keep him/her anonymous, at least for now) has more than generously offered to guide me round his/her home area. I'll just say it's in the south of Europe, and is a great destination. So, I'm planning to head over there for a week in May.
A great result for CiC, and if anyone is ever heading for the north west of England, I'd be very happy to reciprocate. OK, it's not the Med
