Excellent. Did you know how many beats per minute on the wings there are and adjust the speed - or was it pot luck?

I don't normally get excited over animal shots but this is brilliant.

Rob, the light was perfect, but i didn't have much shutter speed. I said the heck with it and kept shooting till i nailed one. This one was 1/125s---f/5.6---ISO1250. To answer your question, the shutter was just about 2X faster than the wing beats and yes it was prob. pot luck

Thanks wendy, the flower "he"(you can tell by the orange on the neck) is hovering around is a big chunk of plastic filled with sugar water. I don't want that in my shots. If i had a place to shoot over Real flowers, i would most definately include the flower. It is actually much harder to get a shot excluding the feeder. You only have a fraction of a second to get the shot off.

You have probably noticed that I do not usually comment on animal shots (unless the wear woolly coats) but I really must congratulate you on this image. Animal and bird photographers face a tough challenge since most of us laymen have become so accustomed to the subject matter that our eyes do not really see the image only what our minds expect us to see (if that makes sense). So when an animal or bird image takes me by the scruff and drags me into it.....well done indeed.
