    Red = 0 degs, Orange = 30 degs . . . .

. . . must be time to play the 'monitor needs calibration' card

I had a car that colour when I was younger - much, much younger. If I remember correctly, it was called 'kalahari tan". But I could be wrong.

The answer is "or what" because, for my vision, the image has red in the rear lamp of the Honda and, as a perfect match for the ripe orange on the table next to me, it has orange in the front indicator lamp of the Porsche; its body colour is somewhere in-between, so it is a redder shade of orange or an oranger shade of red. But if forced into using one word, I would choose orange.

    Cheers.

    Delightfully pedantic and well-observed!

It is in fact twice as red as it is orange, from a hue angle POV - so maybe orangish-red?

    This thread is hilarious

    Or is it a wind-up?

Only in the world of photographic fora can people see a color that is way closer in hue to red than it is to orange and, given a choice of either "red" or "orange", call it orange! Glurk.

Be that as it may, one of the original selling points of RawTherapee was the ability to change the color of a VW Beetle. So here are no less than three VWs: pure orange, OP, pure red (as near as I can get 'pure'):

Is this car orange or what?

So, on your monitor, which is the closer color to the middle car - the one on the left or the one on the right?

On my cheap NEC 1990SX, definitely the one on the right

    Beetles? Horrors!

You may have ruined the day for many Porsche owners! Now this is more like a Beetle

Ted, I think your tomato orange is the closest descriptive match. However, I would state that the colour of the wonderful Porsche is actually delicious Heinz Tomato Soup orange. And, for endorsing those products, I don't really expect the car company to send me a Porsche, but some free tins of the soup from Heinz would be most welcome.

    Cheers.

Ted, I'm afraid you are totally wrong.

This phenomena is also apparent when choosing the shade for decking wood stain. I know because it was explained to me by my other half when viewing the result of MY choice this week

    Wow, what a lively discussion!
I just emailed the owner and he says it is TANGERINE, or Blutorange in German.
Glad you all like the car. He just finished putting it back together after taking it apart to have it painted.

This car IS orange. It is also a Beetle, not a Porsche!

I took this a few years back at Katakolan in Greece, and titled it "Practical Stoicism". At the time the number plate was 'amusing', but today I rather hope it is a reflection of a nations resolve!

Orange, Red or Yellow is very hot to the police's eyes...be careful of the colour of your car if you do not know how to obey traffic laws...
