I think the balloons need their own thread.

I slipped these into the toad discussion but I think they should stand alone.

I was trying to catch one of the lifting burns and managed it as this one went overhead.

Sunset. This one might look interesting with some more work.

Very nice, I just happened to catch a documentary this weekend about the history of ballooning. Interesting stuff.

See my smugmug.com gallery of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta at:

    https://rpcrowe.smugmug.com/Travel/A...ALLOON-FIESTA/

IMO, if anyone ever has a chance to attend the Fiesta, grab that chance by the horns and attend! You can get down on the field as the balloons are ascending which makes great photo opportunities. My gallery provides lots of information on both the Fiesta and shooting that event!

If I attend the Fiesta again, I will spring the cash to take a balloon ride. Some of the best shots of the balloons are from overhead with the ground rather than the sky in the background

That is a nice shot, Brian...balloons are always a good photo op. They are very colourful...

IMO, this is a great shot! It accurately portrays the feelings I had the times that I visited the Balloon Fiesta...

Thanks, Richard. Taos Balloonfest. Happens every October. Small enough to get up close and personal.

I like the composition of that one!

The Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta was almost visual overload...

Stole these from a friend. She asked me to process them so this my toll, in part, for the job. On my bucket list

We don't have a lot of ballooning around here, but there are a couple of operators doing commercial 'have-a-ride-in-a-balloon' flights. Garry (dog) and I were out for our early morning walk a couple of weekends ago. Given that I'm a landscape photographer, you'll realise that this is a pic not of a balloon, but of a balloon in the landscape.

I think the balloons need their own thread.

Anyway, we seem to have hijacked Brian's thread with all our own pics. Hope you don't mind, Brian. I think you're right about your second image. There is a beauty of an image in there.

When we were in Cappadocia last year, I took my one and only balloon ride. A couple from that:

I don't mind at all. Adding images to a thread is always fine with me.

One from each visit. Unlikely to return anytime soon as I have just moved to Tulsa, OK! Other opportunities.

OK, so I do actually get around to trying to do a bit more with an image and here's what happened.

I think the balloons need their own thread.

This isn't actually the image I started to work with but I noticed that I did have the burn in this one that added a bit of a highlight and high action to this image. I cleaned up a few of the specular hightlights in the foreground. I think this works a bit better.

We will be back at the same cottage in Olney again this year so I might get another chance.
