Signs - Please Post them Here

I remember thinking a few years ago that "signs seem to rule our lives" these days - so I was wondering if we can get to 1000 photos of the "little blighters". What I'm thinking of are "government & local authority type signs" ones that say what we can, can't, and should / should not do (not business signs).

Who's up for it ... I'll start the ball rolling ...

I love signs, they are so invasive. Sometimes funny, sometimes infuriating, and sometimes really hard to figure out. This should be interesting.

Don't hold up traffic or drive into the river while reading all these.

Good signs so far. I like Wendy's bridge: classic government "too much isn't enough." Sahil's nature WC is fun, as well.

This one is actually an appropriate sign: it was taken with our Canon S50 P&S about 5 years ago on a vacation in Hawaii, at the Pu'uhonua o Honaunau National Park. Overcast day, but I loved the turtle by the sign saying to stay 15 feet away from the turtles. I have to admit I got a little closer, but I was very quiet.

    Cheers,
    Rick

Sign in Shanghai Park... Although the intent is clear the wording is a bit clumsy. There seems to be a push on in China to correct the language on public signs from "Chinglish" to English.

And my absolute favorite: this sign was placed over the urinal in the men's room of Beijing's Summer Palace.

    Re: Umbrella

That's certainly a strange one: does "on or about the track," perhaps mean "away from the platform"? I find it hard to imagine that passengers can't carry umbrellas.

    Rednecks with Guns

Here is a sign out in the woods just feet from the Brazos River. This Texas Parks & Wildlife sign has been used as a target by hunters. There are many dents and even a couple holes, all rusted as this sign continues to be abused. The amount of rust shows how long this sign has been here.

After taking this photo and others down in the Brazos River, I learned that it's Deer hunting season, that hunting is permitted in the river, and how a couple campers had to deal with gun shots passing their way while canoeing. I'm lucky no one mistook me for Bambi to put my head on their trophy wall.

This photo was taken with my Sigma SD14 through my Sigma 18-50mm f/2.8 EX DC Macro lens at 23mm, f/4.5, 1/80th, ISO 200.
