I am getting this message on the lower right corner of my monitor.



I bought this computer with the windows 7 installed and have been using it for several years, I suspect that this might be a scam...

Good one! What anti-virus/anti-malware stuff do you use? Can you run a full scan?

I've seen this from time to time as well. A restart seems to fix this issue.

I, too, saw that a few times (before installing Windows 10). On the basis of ignorance and knowing that it was not (a fake), I just ignored it and hoped for the best.

Hmmm...this one was made by one disgruntled now ex-employee of Microsoft who wasn't paid well for his work...

I use Microsoft security essentials and Malwarebytes.

It could be fake but if we consider that the WIN 10 is a FREE Upgrade, it is logical that they do check that the current system is genuine. If the system was bought from an independent shop it could easily be a bootleg copy. I knew guys that always used bootleg operating systems to keep their no-name systems price competitive.
I'd go to the Microsoft site and see what they say about that message.

I have had this message on one of our PCs with Windows 7. The copy of 7 was bought from a reputable retailer so I have no concerns about it. I have just ignored it the message; it does not appear to have any effect.
