    Carnival Mask

My daughter and I decided to re-explore the Venetian carnival mask that we shot a couple of years ago.

We were trying for something quite edgy here.

Manfred, I like this better than the gas mask. Nice image.

    Dear Manfred,

I think you have achieved your edginess here. The lighting is perfect; the mask is perfect, the WB is perfect. I love the light fall-off. Is she gazing at the softbox?

I love everything about this image. The look in her eyes makes me wonder what she is thinking.

I also think you both achieved your goal - great photography and great acting on her part. It's a beautiful shot.

The eyes have it here, Manfred...very nice shot all as usual. I prefer this one too better than the gas mask...it is more decorative and has more depth in meaning than the gas mask..

Very cool, but again, I would like it more with better tamed hair. (Sorry, I must have a hair hangover from my last portrait session.)

    Manfred,

If it were mine I would look at de saturating the flesh tones around the eyes ever so slightly to bring that area in line with the mask.

I played with that concept the last time I did some mask shots a couple of years ago.

Interesting...I can't say I prefer one over the other now after seeing both. I do have to hand it to you for getting two very different and equally compelling images from the one subject, well done.
