The eyes have it!

I have a problem trying to get good bird eye definition when there on a black background,I think I need a lot of front light, C&C what do you think?

Black eyes on a black background will always present a bit of a problem; particularly in reduced light. But these have worked out fine, with good definition.

The only change I would make is with the last image where I would clone out that tiny bit of branch in the bottom left corner.

That is tricky for sure! I think you have done a good job. You could always lighten the eye just a tad to give it more definition.

I am with Barbara...but in these birds here, you've done a good job. They are all nice with beautiful catchlights in their eyes...

If you value catch-lights you need a fill flash or an editing programme and not pure white but off-white and not at 100%.

You caught the catch lights, but you really nailed the entire bird in the second one.
