Following on from flash advice for nature

I was using a better beamer flash adaptor in a previous thread, now that the weather has changed and is dry and sunny I am trying out the advice of members and placing the camera outside

D810 with 14-24 Nikkor, branch placed in a fork handle with peanut butter on, and seeds out of shot below on a box.

However as I am in doors I am trying a cheap Hahnel live view which allows me to use my office and shoot wirelesly with Nikons WR-T10 and WR-R10 receiver, the image is C**P, but works, well it was only £40

I am looking at adapting my Lilliput 7" monitor now.

Good luck with your remote capture endeavours Jeremy, I shall look forward to seeing some of the captures. The inclusion of the cat in the second image made me laugh, it may limit the number of visitors to your perch/feeding arrangements.

Little buggers, I have three rescue cats, yet NONE chase birds, they just sit and watch them

    Ok, just ordered "Camranger"

Will review it when it arrives

More than happy for you to, I don't mind people trying my gear out.

I think (and I know you are a pro) that if people on a forum who are long term members and lived within reach of one another allowed people to come round it would help people in their choice of gear

I have ordered it from LCE Plymouth, email me at skywatcher@tesco.net and I will let you know when it is in

    Yes! Do the birds know?
I have a bird feeder and occasionally it remains full through the day. There is a lovely pure black cat which is very friendly, to humans , which I catch sitting underneath the feeder occasionally

But about photography .... I have a 45ft extension cord from ebay which I keep telling myself 'you should set the camera up and shoot the birds as they fight for access to the feeder hole' ..... but yet to happen. Not really sure I am doing the right thing by feeding the birds .... they are so agressive to each other.

Looks an interesting setup; do post some shots up here when you can.

One other thought. Birds will perch anywhere - a couple of years ago our daughter had a great tit perch on her arm on its way to some food - and when they perch they often ....., perhaps a cover of some sort would be useful.

I do use a cover for the DSLR normally, to avoid bird P........ I have a cheap raincover from ebay £10

I did post some images on another thread, I am awaiting "Camranger" this week

    FEED the birds

Have three feeders at least, one with general seed, one with sunflower seeds one with suet if it is affordable, or three small separate feededs

I know of many interior photographers that use Camranger and are very happy, apparently the customer service is excellent.

I don't have a Camranger but I do have a 6D which has built in WIFI that connects to my phone or tablet. It saves a lot of time on site as I can adjust flash levels and preview from the flash location and not have to walk back to the camera to review an image. It also helps a bit with post as I can get my verticals bang on on site and clients love the larger screen when they want to have input on composition etc.
