Worst image I have ever seen

That may be an exaggeration but, this image of my daughter and her employees was shot by my son-in-law is pretty darn bad...

Worst image I have ever seen

I tried, totally unsuccessfully to fix it a bit but, didn't have any luck...

Worst image I have ever seen

I have a hunch it was shot with a cellphone that had a dirty lens...

What camera was he using? Just don't want to buy one by accident.

    Yeah, that will do it

Mine picks up smears easily, even though I try to be careful - and try to remember to check and wipe clean before snapping, but of course, sometimes I forget

Pretty bad, alright. I tried DXO's new Clearview function on it:

    Really Richard?

Guess you don't check out your local Fauxtographers on Craigslist and Facebook?

This is a work of art compared! And they are charging $$!

Is that the only shot your SIL made? Maybe there are some good ones to remember from that trip...just that this one is really beyond salvageable...

Cell phones have lenses? I thought they were supposed to be used for talking.

I thought there might be some hope

Worst image I have ever seen

However on 2nd thoughts. Cloths maybe but faces no unless they were manually repainted

well, it's not the worst I have seen, but who's counting?

My first thought was that it was a combination of flare (see over the head of the person second from the right) and filth on the lens, which would of course make the flare worse. It looks a bit like the photos people get by smearing petroleum jelly over a filter. In any event, I think the bottom line is that the flare has wiped out detail, so it can't be well repaired.

I suspect it's a combination of flair, light levels and in camera processing as it was taken with a cell phone. Bit too extreme for it handle.

By the way, it doesn't even come close to the worst I ever made. Think about opening the back of a camera in bright sunshine with the film still in it and you might have an idea about how to make a much worse photo.

I remember a leaky back giving an interesting flare effect.
