    Brisbane on Friday evening

I went with a group of photographers to the Brisbane CBD on Friday evening to try our hand at street photography.

    C&C very welcome.

I know little or nothing about street. But no.4 is simply a cool shot. Nicely done.

1, 4, and 6 for me. Good street photography provides the emphasis to search within the image.

    Hi Tony

I've tried street photography only once in Brisbane at the wednesday lunch time markets near the city council building - and got pathetic results. So with those credentials I am hardly the one to provide critique, but I do like these images and find them interesting and appealing. Well done for a first effort.

    #2, #3, #4 for me Tony.

Street photography is not easy by any means. Seeing the shot and capturing it before the actors move on doesn't leave a lot of time to consider compositional issues. #2 would have been better with a little more space between the first marcher and the lamp post, but unless you have extraordinary PS skills it has to be appreciated for what it is.

#3 Good amount of motion blur in the crowd and the woman's feet. Glad you didn't convert to selective colour because she really stands out from the crowd already. Well seen and caught.

#4 My favourite. I like the distorted shape of the passer-bye although I might clone out his hand. There is no reason to suspect that the two people in the back ground have any connection, but those two paper bags are a formidable barrier to any communication. The blurred guy adds to the theme of isolation.

Thanks Dan, John, Dave and Greg.

There were several interesting challenges here. All were taken hand held and as the light faded the ISO went up and the shutter speed went down. I don't think extra sharpness is important in this context but I was surprised how good some were in the circumstances. Some of the slow shutter speeds were deliberate to get the blurred movement.

I cloned out the hand in #4 as Greg suggested. I also tried to move the pole in #2. It was not 100% successful but was good practice. I just noticed that I forgot to fix up the toe of the shoe.

I like #4. By the way, where you were standing taking this shot, every Sunday, there's a tall photographer with a tall monopod and a 70-200mm at this same spot doing street shots. I saw him there all the time when I went scouting for sites but never really had the opportunity to chat to him.

Dean, I am tall but it wasn't me. This was the first time time I have been in the mall with the camera. And my white Canon 70-200 is much too obtrusive (as well as being too long) for this job.

Good set Tony, something I have never tried but can appreciate it's not easy. As for moving the light pole, quite an accomplishment.

Why can't I see any photo in the most popular shots in this series...it is not a Tinypic problem here as I can see but a notice of a picture or video that was deliberately removed from the selection...

Now I see what everyone (almost...) is raving about...a girl who is iphone crazy and a guy staring at something...Very nice shot...the blurring agent (guy) separates the two of them quite nicely and the whole scenario is actually colourful...repeating squares in the foreground also repeats in the metal at the back of the staring at nothing guy and also at the far left hand top which is barely noticeable. Good capture...

vaez, Binnur and Izzie, thanks for the comments.

A couple more that I think are reasonably interesting. The first of these I thought afterwards might have got me into trouble.
