    A new life:

Shot this early this morning. With a new flower opening and another in full bloom.

I kept the ISO as low as I could and had to use a tripod to get the shot. Used F10 for a bit of DOF. 1/10 sec. Metering mode: central weight. WB: manual @ 4800K.

    A new life:

Jpeg as usual. Resized + sharpened. No tuning.

Andre, a couple of points. Firstly the top of the opening flower is leaving the frame through the top edge. Secondly, there is a detailed vein structure inside the flower (as on the outside) that can be recovered in PP - but I think you don't like to do that, so I wonder if less exposure would have revealed it more effectively?

    Thanks Philip.

I shot this one a day later against a white background. Not sure I like it.

But it seems to work for this?

I completely agree with Philip...the vein structure is better in the second but, the image itself is inadequate. Shooting jpeg and relying on the camera's software's interpretation of the image is, IMHO, fraught with futility. Doing your own PP on RAW images is so much more rewarding.
