Who Needs a Digger or Pump

Something different today and a try at B&W conversion.

They came to fix a water leak under the lane outside my house so I took the opportunity of doing a few shots that demonstrate the fuel saving way of doing the job here.

The colour versions seemed to lack impact.

Interesting bit of story telling. My only thought is that the mid tones might benefit from a bit more contrast but that's a minor thought at that. Other wise including what was attached to the other end of the shovel on the left of the first shot and all of the LH individual in the second shot might have been preferable but that is less important in this sort of reportage than it might be otherwise.

    John,

Thanks for the comments which I appreciate.

These are the first serious try I have had at B&W other than some small head shots a year ago. Elements is the software I use and these were converted using their 'newspaper' option which I then did minor boost in brightness and contrast but I agree an increase in mid tones would help so I'll see what I can do.

The cropped shovel and back on the left of each photo was due to having half a person showing in each.

As for the 'story' the reason I took the shots was because I intend to include them with a letter to the local press regarding the excellent fast service I got from our water authority when everyone else seems to put them down in the press here.

The middle slider in Levels will do it. I seem to remember that elements does have a Levels adjustment but it's in a sub menu somewhere.

It's always worth giving praise where it's due. Costs nothing and you will probably get as good a service again next time.
