    Signs of things to come

We currently have forest fires burning all the way around us... these shots were taken as sunset the first day they started 7-27-13. I would love to see that blue sky again...

Great photos, but a scary scenario. Difficult for those of us who haven't been there to take on board.

Hoping that you and yours stay safe.

Makes for a great sunset. And well done. What do you have now, leaden grey skies?

Trina, these are beautiful images but a tragic circumstance. I feel for you. We've experienced the same with fires all around us and evacuations all around us. We're now dealing with the main highway from our place to Colorado Springs always under threat of flood and mudslides every time it rains due to the damage last years fires caused. I hope your family and your place stays safe.

We lived interior Alaska for nine years and fires are hard to deal with. Good luck.

Thank you for the kind comments...the smoke and light rays made for some interesting photos. We are in no immediate danger, the fires are a fair distance away... I feel for the people and animals that are close to them and having to evacuate... Here it has mainly just been to make sure you chew your air well before breathing it down, the smoke is so thick.. There have been a few days I have pretty much unable to go out due to the air quality being so bad....and having asthma.... but the last day or so we have had some afternoon breezes that helped move some of the smoke out...I kind of gauge the quality by how well I can see the hill behind me..its pretty close...the worst day I could not see it at all... today its not so good again but I can still see the outline...

Hi Trina. Sorry about the fires and their effect on everyone's breathing, asthma or not. Beautiful images.

To echo what others have written - Out of such awful circumstances, nature creates these scenes from which you have made two wonderful images.
