    The Avenue, Achamore, Gigha

Back from my week on the island of Gigha and starting to get images finished.

What I loved about this scene was the light, with the sun low on the right and hitting on to the sides of the trees and across the dirt road. What do you think? Your C & C is always appreciated.

With this sort of scene, I always ponder over how much of the trees to show; vertically speaking.

In this case, I think you have it just right with the branches creating a nice tunnel effect.

I agree with Christina. I can't think of a thing to improve it. I really like the light hitting the trees at the end too.

Thank you for your comments, folks.

This was one of those hugely satisfying experiences when you come upon a scene, know you can make a good image from it and, when you click the shutter, have a sense that you've really got something that will be well worth keeping.

There was a big dynamic range that stretched the capability of my Canon 40D and I had decided that use of a GND was not an option. So getting the exposure right was critical. I needed, I guessed, to get to at least 1/125 to minimise any movement in the leaves and small branches caused by a very, very gentle breeze. I was hoping f8 would be wide enough (I'd usually have thought of f16 for a shot like this). However f8 allowed me to keep the ISO set at 100.
