    Antonio,

My favorite thus far of your wonderful series. Background and pose work flawlesslessly, with no extraneous elements, to tell his story.

    Thank you guys
This photo is rather "old", when I was trying to use the flashes. There were two of them in this session but I think only one fired at this photograph bounced on white paper at our right.

    Hi Antonio,
It's nice to "see" you again nearhere...
it's a very nice image as always, but I'll not spend many words on compliments to not bore you.
I would like to explain to you how I imagine this subject and how I'd like to "capture" it.
I 'd have lighten the boat and his hands with a direct hard light, like the one coming from the work-bench lamp, coming from up-right direction.
Then I'd have lit his face with a softer light (large soft-box? bounced flash) coming from a lower position then the one you used.
In the end a touch of very diffused ambient light to let barely visible the background. just a bit less visible as in your picture, in order make the background less busy and distracting...
Obviously it is what I've in mind but I really don't know if the result may be as good as your...
I know you don't mind for all these words..
hope to meet you soon again
    sincerely
    Nicola

    Thank you Nicola
    Yes, you are probably right...
In fact this is a rather old image I have done when I bought my flashes. They were just bounced in a nearby white board...
Thank you Nicola for you kind words

Have a look at my blog under retratos (portraits in Portuguese).
There you will find some recent images and also some comments.
