Doesn't it mean someone has been killed on the streets ? gang related....
Hi Gary, I don't know about NY but here in Scotland it doesn't signify that......I sure wouldn't be smiling if it did.
It's just a game the kids play.....the council cut them down and they put them back up overnight.
Interesting shot.
Not unusual around playing fields. Someone probably forgot to pack away their playing shoes and someone else throws them onto the nearest high fence or powerline.
Gary - gang related? I did not know that. Could be a USA thing but as I have seen this sort of thing in the most unlikely of places, it makes me wonder. More details please.
Oh sorry my mistake. From what i understand in USA its to do with gangs, i though it would mean the same here.My ignorance
Here is the meaning’s from a site i found .

Obviously there is more sites with more info about this i just picked the first one.
Thanks Bobo
Gary, in the pic I took the powerlines are so high up that I would imagine it's almost sporting kudos to be able to lob them up there.
Woke to find this had achieved an Explore on Flickr.
Nice start to the day
When I lived in Glasgow I saw some phone lines outside a school with at least 12 pairs of trainers hanging from them. I didn't get a chance to photograph them, sadly
Great composition. It's amazing how something that takes up such a small part of the image can be the subject so obviously when handled properly, as in this case.
Very nice image Sharon...
mat...I'd love to have seen that.
Rob...Thank you so much.
Mike...Thanks, it was a bit of a beast to crop and maintain the perspective while keeping it tight.
Still not in the same class as getting the cone on the Wellington statue in Glasgow!
What I love about this image are the tones of gray in it. Look at it in the Lightbox. There's a glorious richness in the tones ... I think.
True Donald..true!
I really like random public stuff like this and clever, well placed graffiti..in fact I like it way much more than official 'public art'.
I am happily messing about with my little Ricoh camera and they say Ricoh does b&w second only to Leica. I wonder if this is where the richness in the midtones comes from.
Thanks Gary. That was illuminating.

Donald - that is a cool tradition.
I was in Delhi once and visited a number of old mosques etc. In one there was a huge iron pillar that looked oddly out of place. The guide explained that it was a test for men. If one could wrap their arms around it backwards and overlap the hands he was considered to have the physique of a warrior. I did that test.
30 years later was in Delhi again and went to the same place - the pillar had been cordoned off with a high iron fence to prevent people from damaging it or taking out little pieces as souvenirs.
[QUOTE=Bobobird;285559]Thanks Gary. That was illuminating.

Indeed Bobo..we live and learn ..lol
Sharon, you have a great eye for these types of things and the skills as a photographer to do them justice. I like your style!
Thank you very much Shane.
