I tried catching snow falling today

We just got our first snow-fall in Roseburg Oregon today so I wanted to try out my manual settings. Here are two photos and of course, I am much more pleased with the second one. Feedback welcome on what you may observe or suggestions on trying to capture snow falling Denise

PS Well that's weird, I can't see or show you what my settings were because it isn't showing up on my "details" when I right click the photos?? Anyway, the first was taken on Auto mode and the second was taken with me setting the aperture, if I remember right, duh! Well, I set it at the fastest Aperture or Shutter speed.

Don't be too hard on me, I was hurrying since I am trying to catch snow photos while I am doing my homework that is due soon also, LOL!!

    Hi Denise,
well done on getting stuck in, I alway hide indoors when it's cold.
I would suggest you just give the a few adjustments in PP. Contrast / sharpen etc.
I had a quick 5 minute try just to see if you think it's worth you spending a bit of time processing them; I think it is.
    Well done
    John

What you should be happy with is, "You did it". All I did was a small tweak, without your foresight to capture it....well you know what I mean, I think you have done well.

Hi, Denise. I've had some luck in the past using a flash for falling-snow photos. I stumbled upon this trick when I accidentally forgot to disable my flash once, and it turned out great! The flash tends to highlight the foreground falling snow. Of course, adjust your settings accordingly to capture the background as desired.

I had read something on a flash being used. I will try that if we could just get a few more flakes to fall, LOL! It's let up now, only that little bit this a.m. Thank you so much denise

PS I will have to do some research on settings for the background and how I want it. That's something I wouldn't have thought about at all Did I mention I'm a beginner, LOL!! Having fun though

Lovely, we had snow in Portland also, but it didn't last long enough for me to get showered, dressed and outside. I am not, however going to wish for more just to get a picture here in town. Roseberg, like Portland has beautiful scenery to capture that on.
