    Grain Store

Whilst out photographing the local wind farm yesterday, I thought the nearby grain plant had a certain attraction. I liked the angular lines of the roof, and the symmetry of the elevator trunking and it's shadow. On reflection, though, I'm wondering if it is just a bit too "busy" to work as a composition.
    What does the team think?

It was originally shot in colour, but I think it gains a little in impact from B&W:

    Or possibly a tighter crop?

I claim no credit for this, as it was my wife's suggestion.....

I go with the wise Mrs Roach. I think that takes us closer in alongside the store instead of standing back and observing it.

I immediately thought of the tighter crop when I first saw the larger image. It was very nice to see just moments later that you had already complied with my wish.

    Thanks chaps.
As an aside, although the images above are JPEG, I actually shot in JPEG + RAW for the first time, with the objective of trying to learn Canon DPP.
Something to keep me busy over the Xmas holiday....

Hi John and welcome to the CiC forums,

I agree with the tighter crop, but regardless of that, I would straighten and perspective correct to get the strong vertical elements in the 'planking' parallel to both sides of the frame, however wide or tight that might be.

    Cheers,
