My wife's view of why it's called Iceland

I am thrilled at the very favorable reaction to a particular image captured by my wife that is displayed in the other thread about why the country is called Iceland. So, I have posted this thread so we can devote it exclusively to the other images she captured that morning. (All of them post-processed by me; consider me her assistant.)

I really like the way she has captured both the close-up detail and the more distant ferocity of the ocean in these shots!

I particularly like the second with the backlit ice, emphasized pebbles in the sand and crashing waves. A really good set of images and a nice eye for the composition. {Kudos to your anonymous wife, are you keeping her off the site to avoid shaming pikers like me?} And great post processing (of course) to suit the images and overall tone.

Did you go for a dip? Probably a little to warm for a Canadian though , we like to break some ice to get into the water. That way you can be sure the mosquitoes are less active.

    Too funny, Trevor!

No, but my wife got this image on the other side of the highway. Apparently the man is from your neck of the woods. Unfortunately, the photo doesn't include a thermometer indicating the temperature or an anemometer indicating the wind speed. The woman wearing the red coat was not over dressed. Notice the position of his feet.

All stunning photo's! #'s 1 and 2 being my favorite with the play of light on the ice and the waves in the background and the beach all go together so well. I love the colors! You have every right to be so proud of her and your PP! Image #6 ouch! There is a good reason for me living in Louisiana (heat, the greater part of the year).

I agree. This contrast between the ice and the pounding waves may be part of what makes your wife's photo in your other Iceland thread so outstanding.

Another great aspect of these images is that the ice is back-lit by the sun giving them a unique sparkle that you almost never see. Very stunning in the first two images. Nice!

It's great to know that you folks are enjoying my wife's images as much as I am.

By the way, despite the warm tones in the black sand in the first two images, I actually had to cool them quite a bit. The sensor captured those tones much warmer in a way that I didn't like.

    Is it Joellen?

Those are excellent images! I particularly enjoy #1 and #4.

Yes, it is Joellen. Those two are also my favorites from this set, though I like her image in the other thread more.
