NIKON 18-300 f3.5-5.6 Superior to SIGMA, TAMRON 18-2xx f3.5-6.3 Lenses

After shooting with SIGMA 18-250 for 3 years, NIKON finally releases the 18-300 f3.5-5.6, superior to the SIGMA and TAMRON 18-2xx f3.5-6.3 lenses. Too late for me to care. I'll wait for a more dramatic technological improvement from SIGMA or TAMRON. For NIKON owners wanting the 18-300 focal length today, get yourself the NIKON 18-300, about $1,000. Any rumors on SIGMA or TAMRON announcements?

    Hi Darknight,

The link is to a 70-300 lens. No AF-S and No VR. Great for SLR using a tripod, NOT Digital cameras.

    Save your money...

Using a tripod will beat VR and the 70-300 in the link does have AF. You need to hold the camera as still as you can regardless. There are millions of sharp hand held photographs taken long before image stabilisation was available(and AF). If you are keen on photography you may want make sure whatever lens you get will cover full frame as that seems to be where digital SLRs are heading.

The 70-300mm in the link is AF but not AF-S so depending on your body you might not get auto focus - also it ani't what you would call sharp above 200mm.

Sorry, I was simply responding to your previous comment and didn't realize I came across as having an attitude.
