    Lens color

I stopped into a camera shop yesterday to get a hands on look and feel of the Canon 70-200 f.4 L. The salesman brought a brand new still in the box lens and when he pulled it out, it was almost beige/light brown in color. The color wasn't so bad but I thought that particular lens was snow white. Was I looking at a knock off or what? Anyone experience this before?

No regrets at all,Colin.Only reason I would sell it is if I would decide to go with the 2.8.
    Here's a crop from a shot at 5.6 with a 1.4X TC attached.

Excellent Pic Jim. I should have mine within weeks.

Kevin, thanks for the review. Even in that picture it shows it to be as white as can be. That's what got me confused. I am going with the IS version though. With the money saved (as opposed the the f2.8) I figure I can pick up a fast prime. That's my plan anyway. It's always subject to change.

    Thanks for the input.

    Have a guess :)

    Hi Colin,

Just one consideration of the F4 version -v- the F2.8 version ... with the F4 version you can't use a 2x teleconverter and still retain AF unless you use a 1 series body.

Personally I feel that getting an IS version is good insurance - and the F4 variend is 3rd generation (good for 4 stops -v- 3 stops for the F2.8 version) - that could mean (in terms of hand-hold ability) the difference between getting away with 1/25th -v- needing 1/400th!
