Well they all work, Robert, but I think with the second one all the 'lines' come together and give it a bit more depth.

    Hi Robert,

What a fascinating place, moreso when I google mapped it and saw the local geography.

#2 for me too, although I wondered about a shot between 2 and 3, looking along the weir edge? But perhaps that's a bad idea as it would tend to cut the image in two halves.

For some odd reason, in #3, I find the little bit of water on the extreme right that comes back towards the camera a bit distracting (the lock cut).

The leading line and foreground interest of the second one make it far more appealing to me. If you return to the scene, consider capturing only that leading line and the bridge, which from this angle is far more interesting to me than the castle and surrounding buildings.

My favorite is the second one. I agree that the bridge is far more interesting than the castle itself. Next time I try to get some pictures of the bridge, maybe during blue hour.

@ Dave: I think you are right concerning the water on the right side. I will have an eye for that next time. There are a lot of small villages that have their own castle or castle ruin near this river called "Lahn". If you are in the Frankfurt area they are worth a visit. The larger ones are Weilburg or Braunfels for example.

I also like #2 the best and I do like the color version better than B&W....

    Re: Castle & River

All are good Robert but #2 is stellar owing to the leading lines for the eye to follow and explore. I would love to see this in a wider ratio as I get the feeling that I'd like to see more of the right side of the bridge.

    I'd go for 2,3,1.

2 has the water cutting across the middle & theres action with the weir like that. The same with 3. 1 seems to just look like a boring piece of water at the front. Maybe some swans could have livened that one up.

    Love the second one, Darling.
It has some magic that catch the eye into the scene.
Have to check my pictures from this place. ^^
