Dave: I like this pic in that it gives off a sense of what lies beyond the archway. I also the photo's sense of depth.

Bruce I like it, nice compostion. The only suggestion I have is to add a bit more contrast by adjusting the Levels - white slider down to about 240 and mid-tone slider to about 0.6. Also perhaps a bit more sharpening.
Oh that's a familiar sight.. I've walked through that doorway many times! I used to live on the 2nd floor of East Mary, so that was my path to my room.

Technically it is pretty darn good; exposure - check, vertical - check, saturation - check, histogram tonal range - check.
It might benefit from a little extra Local Contrast Enhancement
If I were wandering around a university town and saw that arch, while nice, I probably wouldn't have stopped to take a picture because I feel the tree foliage blocks out too much of the arch shape. Perhaps in winter it would be different.
