    Or Apprehension?

But let's not get bogged down going through the English Thesaurus. You have captured some good facial shots here.

Another appealing photo Antonio. Nice tone range and an exposure that lends itself to the feeling of the shot. Makes me wonder what the story is. (or come up with my own about what's happening)

    Quality as usual.

Well done. Everything seems to contribute to the image.

    Re: Hesitation

    Hi Antonio,

To be honest, this one really doesn't work that well for me. The light and tonal control is great (we expect nothing less!), but for me, the strength of the main subject isn't enough to hold my attention over the distraction of all the "body parts" (1/2 a face 1/2 way down the left hand side, 1/2 a head bottom right, 1/2 a head 1/2 way down the right hand side, headless chap at the top in the middle).

Perhaps a different crop or a stronger vignette would help?

Thank you Geoff, Andrew and Peter

    Thank you also to Colin.
Well said Colin. I made a severe crop and some adjustments. I think it is better now. Thanks you again Colin

I am afraid however that I have made something wrong in the young fellow at the back...

I almost forgot: the story behind is the same as here

    Hi Antonio,

I like the crop on this a lot better; it makes for a far more powerful image. Often on images like this I'll use a subtle vignette to gently draw the eye in towards the main focus (possibly leading to background elements not needing to be defocused as much).

I'm with Colin Antonio, we expect a lot from you. The composition is not up to your usual standard and the half face boy takes your eye off the two main characters. Perhaps a tighter crop?

Now after writing this I see you have already done it, I like it better.

    Thank you Wayne for commenting.

I have to be careful because I can tend - sometimes - towards using photos which are not that good

    Re: Hesitation

My personnal opinion is that I liked the first shot as it had more context and more to look at. I guess that is why photography is subjective.....

Thank you Peter for your valuable comment.

Like many things in life, liking one photograph/version or another is a subjective subject

    Re: Hesitation

    Nice shot, Antonio!

I always struggle with this myself. There are so manythings in the scene I sometimes am not sure where and how to frame. Most of my pictures are in the setting of a lot of kids playing, daycare, groups of people, etc.

I find myself usually going from one arm or head to another one and another one and another one until I notice all my shots are wide and include everyone, and for that reason a bit boring. Very hard for me to cut an arm or leg...

I think in the case of this shot, since there are not much different between the faces that we see in the shot, even the half-cut ones, it is difficult to focus on any of them and that is why you need to either include all of them (full face though which we do not have here) or leave the ones that are not full at least out of the picture.

not at all, this one has a real good feel about it. The black and white works well. The kid in the back ground seems to have the same expression as the main subject which re-enforces the scene.

I am disturbed by the fact that I cannot look at him buit rather the child in the background? It was slightly better when 'she' was darkened back. Prior to the crop I looked at the child on the left side before him. Is he too large in frame when viewed on my monitor? Altogether puzzling.
