Were the streaks left in there intentionally ?

Nice pic but the streaks appear to reduce the tranquility of the scene somewhat.

Beautifully composed to get that reflected light on the water behind the trunk of the tree so that we'd see it as a well defined silhouette and with a hint of sky showing between the hill and the branches and leaves of the tree, so that it didn't merge into one big black mass.

I suspect that these elements are not arranged in the frame like that by accident. It's the little things that count!

    Thanks Donald,

Yeah - had to do it that way of the moon would have blown out the shot.

Very nice shot Colin. I would never have dreamed of trying something like that but it's very effective.

I can almost hear Doris Day singing "On Moonlight Bay" !!

    Hi Dave,

Doris Day? Are we both showing our age a bit here?

Thanks for the kind words - it wasn't that hard to spot to be honest - just saw it walking back from the "Tranquility Base" shot.

    Close - it's LeAnn Rimes

Bit of a co-incidence actually - I saw the potential in the scene, but the moon was still quite low in the sky and being a bit of a "PITA" (it's at it's largest too). I was trying to think of a name for the image when "Can't Fight the Moonlight" came up on the iPhone I had playing in my pocket (on plane mode of course, wouldn't want annoying little kids interrupting something as important as photography!)

    Thanks for the kind words
