You have very good focus and composition. But the color looks slightly yellow on my calibrated monitor. I would suggest adding more contrast to darken the background. Shooting roses is great fun... just don't get stuck! My wife's have provided me with some of my best flower subjects. I would say you are off to a good start in macro photography; it can be very challenging but rewarding.

Thanks, Paul, I can see the yellow now that you point it out. I 'll try your suggestion of adding more contrast and can't wait to see how it works out!
