    B.i.f.

Just a couple birds in flight I thought I would share. I am pleased to get them but displeased that they are so heavily cropped...better than 60% The first is a Banded Kingfisher and the second likely needs no intro. The kingfisher is a small fast little guy and while I can get a look at hime most any day I like....he has never come this close. Normally 150yrds +. One day though.......

Maybe, ... but they're still pretty impressive images. You nailed the focus beautifully on each of them. Can almost count the feathers.

Great captures Paul. I am still trying to shoot a Kingfisher, same experience as yours...too far away.

The ability to heavily crop and still produce an outstanding image is a technique that you have used very effectively in this instance. Say, ain't that what it's there for?

Thank you everyone. My dissapointment is really only in the lack of ability to print at any kind of size. I do like these but will use them as inspiration to for next time. As it is, they make for nice example shots for the collection.

very nice Paul I have thrown a lot of attemps at both those birds away... once I realize I cant crop it that hard, I just cant get close to those belted kingfishers but I love to watch them fish!

Eagle in a tree, eagle flying, eagle on ice...cliches. But that KF...an excellent capture. Fast, darty and skitterish king fishers are hard enough to see, much less photograph. As for the crop, any time I've seen KFs the background is usually busy and cluttered and they're lost in the background. This is (to me) a rare, clear shot. Congrats.
