    Ih David, all spiders use venom to kill their prey but most are not dangerous to humans. I couldn't get a positive ID on this one but it is referred to a common garden spider here in the Carolina Piedmont. This one was about 2 1/2" long. Perhaps someone on the forum can ID it for us?

    That's it, George! The link indicates that the female grows to just over 1" long but the one I saw 'looked' to me to be much larger than that!
