Welcome to CiC Matt,
This is a great site to continue learning and I look forward to seeing you posts and pictures.
If you have no objections, it would be nice if you would to go to Edit Profile and put in your name & location; so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
Enjoy the forum and the tutorials.
Cheers
John

Hello all,
This is Balaji Nagarajan. I hail from Bangalore, India. I am a Software Engineer by profession. I have been into photography since 2009 (that was the time, I realized where my life's passion actually belonged). I have been self learning the art since the day of realization.... Love to be part of such platforms which lets one involve, learn and share ideas. Also love to be part of such platforms because here is where you can receive criticism on your work, and I beleive criticism is the best way to improve one self.
Well so much about me. If you wanna know more or just have a friendly chat, don't hesitate to drop me a line. :)
Regards,
Balaji Nagarajan
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello Balaji Nagarajan, and welcome to CiC.
You have certainly come to the right place to learn and share - this is a very supportive community and you can be sure that feedback will be constructive. If you haven't had a look at the tutorials yet then please do so - they are reckoned to be some of the best on the net.
I hope to see some of your work soon, and to be talking with you. Enjoy being a member.
Best wishes,
Dave

I'm Jim and new to the forum. Picking up a camera after many years away, I'm finding my style. I've made a modest purchase in a Nikon D5200, instead of the longer leap into a full frame body. I'm also very tempted by the Fuji X100, being a fan of range finders and street photography. I'm also thoroughly enjoying the electronic version of the darkroom in the form of Adobe's LR5. Looking forward to images to come!

Just like many of us on here, Jim, including myself.
Great to have you here and I hope that being part of CiC helps you along the learning curve, but that you'll also share your knowledge and experience in order to help others learn.

Hello and welcome to CiC.
As you can see, I have removed your e-mail address from your post. We would suggest that it is not advisable to include your personal e-mail address in a post on an open forum such as this.
So that you don't continue to get people asking you what your proper name is, because most us use that on here, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top rigth of the window. Once there you can enter the name by which you wish to be addressed under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts. You can also enter your location so that it does the same, just as in my details alongside this message. Then we all know where everyone is in the world.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi,
I look forward to working with you all. Thanks

Hello and welcome to CiC. I hope you enjoy being involved and that you find the forum and helpful source of advice and support.
By the way - If you wish you can go to Edit Profile and put in your location, so that it appears in the sidebar alongside your message, just like mine beside this message. Then everybody knows where everybody else is.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi I am new to this forum and decided to join after reading some of the online tutoials and comments , I am a rank outside amatuer when it comes to photography , but hope to improve as a result of this decision , I have a 35mm Mamiya ZMQuartz , none digital and a compact panasonic DMC-TZ6 25mm with a leica lens 3.3 . Clearly I need to update to a compact /slr with all the trimmings , I hope to gain knowledge to assist in my upgrading in due course , of course any comment any member wishes to make will be of assistance . i will not upload photos for some time yet.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi I am Naveen & glad to join with all of you.

Not necessarily, Peter. You can do that when you're ready and know that you want to get serious about your photography.
The thing is that it's the person that makes the picture, not the camera. It's only a box that captures light. Sure, the DSLR with all the trimmings opens up options for photography not available with sort of gear you have at the moment, but it's not going to give you instant masterpieces. Only you can do that.
And that's where CiC can hopefully come in to play by helping you develop the knowledge and skills that allow you to make those 'wow' images. Everyone on here started from where you are right now. The good thing is that they remember that and are always willing to support, advise, guide as requested.
So, it's great to have you here. I hope you enjoy it.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I hope I'm posting this properly. My name is Karen and I live outside of Norwich, UK. I've been photographing for years, starting with a Kodak Brownie camera. I've done manipulated polaroids, and I've a photography degree, but I haven't been doing much photography as I would like. I've recently acquired a Canon EOS 20d, which I need to get familiar with, and I do tend to shoot a few pics with my camera in my phone. I also like playing photo editing and trying out new effects on my photos. I love Cambridge, and I get down there whenever I can. Here is a quick sample of one of my photos.

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hi everyone, my name is Julie but i use the name of Wanungara because i live in a beautiful part of Northen NSW in Australia in the shadow of Mt. Wanungara.
I was recently given a Canon 600D with 18-200 tokina lens for my birthday and as i have only used point and shoot cameras before (in Auto mode) this is a learning curve for me... i am doing a lot of photography e-book learning and practice lately!
I found Cambridge in Colour after a colleague gave me the address and told me to check you out...
I hope to post a few photos here and get your opinions, critisms and advice when i do.... it will all help me learn the art!!
cheers Julie (Wanungara)

Great to have you here, Julie. I hope that between the tutorials and this forum, that you do find the help and support that you want in order to improve your knowledge and skills. I believe there are some online forums where people can be pretty blunt and brutal in their comments and criticism. That does not happen here and if it ever does, then we knock it out pretty quickly. This place is about constructive learning and I hope you enjoy being part of it.
If you want to be addressed as Julie, you can go to Edit Profile (under 'Forum Actions' on the Menu Bar), or you can just press on 'Settings' on the menu bar right up at the top right of the window. Once there you can enter that under 'Real Name'. Then it will appear underneath your Username in all your posts.
