It is my goal to be able to publish some of my wildlife photos in the future. I spent more than five weeks in Yellowstone National Park last summer and returned with more than 500 photos of wildlife. Most of my photographic experience is "self taught" and I look forward to sharing ideas and learning from others. I presently, am learning to use photo editing software to assist me in correcting mistakes that I hope my membership here will prevent in the future. I discovered CIC by accident and am an avid user of the tutorials. I have learned a great deal and highly recommend CIC as a great resource. I look forward to learning from this forum.

Hi Tom,
A big welcome to CiC from me.
I'm glad you are finding the tutorials of help and hope the forum will help you move up to the next level. There are a lot of experienced members here so helps never far away.
Five weeks in Yellowstone, I can't wait to see some of those pictures; hope you post some soon.
Don't forget you can edit your profile, to include your real name and a rough location, that way it will appear on all your future posts. Using first names just makes things feel a little friendlier and most of us do use them here.
Enjoy being a member and I look forward to speaking to you again.
Cheers
John

Hi, I am a retired professor in videography, but I'm always using photo tools in my work. I guess I am an intermediate or better user of Photoshop and have used a variety of cameras over the years. Macintosh is my platform of choice, FinalCutPro and Adobe Premiere. More later! Les

Hi Jen, and a very warm welcome to CiC. It sounds as though you have a lot that you could offer members here, but there are always new things to learn, too. I know that you will find this a very welcoming place, and if you do ask for comments on your work, they will always be constructive.
I hope that you will post some images for us to see - is there a particular style of photography that interests you?
In fact, I've just checked and see that you have posted. I'm having some difficulties seeing the image, though. Here is the thread with posting tips: https://www.cambridgeincolour.com/forums/thread3571.htm in the Community Lounge forum

Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Hello everyone. My name is Don and I live in a small town in Wisconsin called Cecil - approximate population is 400. However it is located on Shawano Lake which gives me many photo opportunities. I have been taking pictures since the late 60s and have processed color and B&W in my darkroom. Since getting my first DSLR, a Nikon D100, I have not done much more in the darkroom. I currently have a Nikon D200 and D7000 with a full compliment of lenses and enjoy all types of photography with the exception of photographing people. I found this website while trying to get some information on how sensor sizes relate to DOF and I was very impressed. I look forward to learning more, posting some photos and seeing what everyone is up to.

Hi 'doctor0204',
Welcome to CiC.:)
The tutorials here at CiC are very good and well worth a read. If the tutorials do not answer any questions you have then please post them directly into the forum, questions are normally answered very quickly there.
I look forward to seeing your first picture post and talking to you further over the coming weeks.
Don't forget you can edit your profile so that it includes your real name and a rough location. Most of us use real names here, just makes things a little friendlier.
Nice to have you on board.

Hello Don, and welcome to CiC. It sounds as if you live in a fairly wild part of the world (I confess I had to Google it :)) and there must be many different landscapes around there (mind you, I imagine it's getting pretty chilly by now).
You've obviously got loads of experience, and I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures.
You might want to add your real name and location to your profile. That way it appears alongside all your posts and we all get to know who is where in the world - there is quite a spread!
All the best,
Dave
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
Good evening to you all,
My name is Michael. I live in Wales, not far from the capital city Cardiff. Many years ago my first camera was a Pentax SLR with a few lens's. I think I used to here the cash falling ever time I pressed the shutter and for many reasons I lost interest.
About three years ago I realised I was missing out on the things and places the wife and our dog visited. No record, no way to explain to the family what and where we had been. So I bought a Panasonic DMC-FX33. Point, shoot, go crazy. Only the battery and size of the card. Well and truly hooked.
I still use that quit a lot but, you just know what's coming, having looked and looked a year ago I bought a Panasonic DMC-G3 with a 14-42 Standard and latter a 45-175 X. It's all a big learning curve, a bit like this is a first for me, but I can experiment and play safe and almost never lose a shot. Now drive the wife and the dog potty hiding from the camera, but she thinks what I take is good, a fan. The dog? Can be bribed so his opinion is tainted. Me? Just enjoy it. Scenery, moving water and quirky things that sometimes only I understand.
