Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 5 - a whole new challenge
Kaye, I'm sorry I have missed commenting on your Cuba images, they are wonderful, so different but so interesting.
I am the queen of the comfort zone & cannot see myself ever going to Sth America, but I do enjoy images such as yours, which take us off the tourist track & show the essence of the place.
They really told the story without any commentary necessary, which is indeed a sign of a well constructed image I think....oh & I'm a big fan of Lasagne too!

Goodness Kay, please don't apologise ! I'm going to post some more as a separate thread later - I'm still sorting through them. And you of course live in a part of the world I'd like to visit.......................and more so than South America.

I will annoy you and make you jealous, Kay -- I will be in Kay's country in two weeks time -- ... lots to do over there.

Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Another at home week, so we 'picked' a day to go out for a long walk and for me to add to project 52. Guess what - the weather forecast was wrong and we 'picked' the cloudy day this week :( .
So, rather than give up taking any photos I did a quick re-think of my aims for the day. I decided to think B&W & also to give my husband's Sigma 10-20mm a go.
We went for a coast walk to Clevedon on the North Somerset coast. Never been there before as its kind of by-passed by the M5. It is a beautiful place, especially the pier which has recently been renovated thanks to a wonderful community effort.
Here is my interpretation of the landmark

And another view, further along the coast and part of our walk

C&C welcome with regard to processing and composition - it is an area I will revisit.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Looking good to me, Kaye.
#1 has both the foreground and pier well focused. So many shots like this fail but you have everything coming together perfectly.
#2 has good perspective. Once again a sharp foreground gradually fading into the distance.
#3, I wonder about a crop from the foreground and going square? Somehow it isn't quite working for me at the moment.
#4 has some strange angles but they come together to produce an interesting scene.
#5 has a lot of almost negative space but in this case there are sufficient wavelets to hold everything together and create a really good peaceful and contemplative scene. Nice perspective with the fading waves and distant headland.

I like the feeling of emptiness here.

Kaye I really like the last set. the clouds really work in B&W very nice.:)
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
So beautiful and compelling shots...think of Black and White....hmm...heard that before from Donald on one of his advice a long time ago now...good idea that works for you. Winter is good for thinking black and white instead of white and brown and the only green are the pines. Bad thoughts me! (wrist slap!!!):D

Thanks Geoff. I am with you on number three and will go back and look at it. Not sure about the square, but will give that a try too.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Thanks Izzie, Mark and John for looking.
You're right Izzie, I've been following advice from Donald which is never a bad thing.
I find to make my mind up about a photo before I shoot it, more often than not, means I end up with an image I am more pleased with. This whole project is already pushing me as I have to think each week what I am going to do :D And then of course other factors (the weather this week) come into play for that extra challenge.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Hi Kaye,
Just to say what a wonderful and interesting thread full of great photos. Favourite images of mine are the Cuban cigar smoker and the last black and white image, simply beautiful.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Nice perspective captures.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Thanks Christina and John. I am enjoying this challenge and so pleased they are also enjoyable to others too. Thanks for viewing.
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 7 - my valentine
It's been a grey week and with loads to do before we head off next week, I have only had one small chance to get the camera out.
This idea came from the pasta making a couple of weeks ago, and the flour shapes on the kneading board. So this week I 'arranged' the flour to suit my purpose and then unashamedly added some words in photoshop. I don't feel it has much photographic merit, but it is a bit of fun.

And then as I found an hour to spare this afternoon, I went looking through some of last year's photos to find a picture of My Valentine to go with it - here he is last summer in Yorkshire, but only processed today so please can it count for this week ?? !!

I hope they at least make you smile and remind you know of those who love you this Valentine weekend
:)
Re: 2015 Project 52 - 1st quarter - Kaye Leggett - week 6 - Clevedon
Very beautiful set!
In the first one, I'd like to try to slide the black point, in order to get deeper blacks.
Thanks for sharing, this is an inspiring work for me.

Nice fun Valentines images & the BW series prior are all worthy of a spot in the challenge, my favourite if I have to have 1 would be #4, well done.
