A wee timorous beastie, me that is; not the subject!

Saw this little chap on a patch of concrete outside the back door this morning and thought to myself, "Hey. Why not?":)
The hardest part of lining up the shot was getting my old bones prone on the concrete path to get up close for a side view shot before the subject hopped it. My knees and elbows are still tingling from concrete contact. :mad:
Not having a macro lens and not knowing my knee from my elbow on these matters I used a zoom kit lens for the shots. I reckoned it was just a matter of 'getting focused and going for brokeh!' :D

Well done. Not sure if I'd been down there I would've managed to get back up! Excellent work.

I wonder if #3 is just a bit over-exposed? You've got the detail beautifully.

Hi Ken, nice going on all 3. I love #2 for the simplicity of the background, same with #3 but as already mentioned it seems a bit bright. It's interesting to see just how shallow the DOF is when looking at the cement. All 3 are great shots but I think # 2 would have been a gem if the focus could have been just a bit sharper on the eye.
Great shots though and congratulations on getting up. :D

We need to design a light weight photographers lift so us older less limber ones can get back up. Nicely done.

You were able to get those shots with just the kit lens?!? Amazing! I wish I could do even half as well. I did order a DR-6 right angle viewfinder for my Nikon so maybe there is some hope yet for these aching bones!

Ken,

You have done a great job here with composition, Bokeh, and exposure. I would just like to add one
constructive comment. Try and focus on the eyes next time. I feel that if the eyes are out of focus it spoils
the shot. Everythinbg else is spot on.
