Woodworkers talk about "Makin' sawdust," as if that's the point of working in the shop. It does sometimes seem to be the only result. :)
I keep a cutoff wheel on my old chop saw so I can cut metal, and it makes interesting sparks, so I thought I'd try to capture them. I couldn't use flash, since freezing the action is the opposite of what I wanted. This is using only the overhead fluorescent lights, plus, of course, the light of the sparks themselves.
C&C most welcome.
Cheers,
Rick
Unfortunately, no, the old mastoid infection has flared up over the last few days so I silently withdrew. I am really enjoying seeing the work you are all putting in and there are some fine images shaking out of this exercise.Quote:

Hurry up - I want my morning tea!

There were a couple of guys messing about with the wires this morning, so I shot 'em when they couldn't come after me.

Had a wee "PC Emergency" just before a fishing boat sailed today -- so I had to use my "insurance shot" taken on the iPhone this morning. Who can guess what it is?

Many thanks to the well wishers. I seems to have worked...that and the antibiotics kicking in...I feel much better today and I get my iMac back tomorrow.
Colin I agree with Rob but would add that it appears to be frost on the rear screen before switching the heating elements on

I did some urbex shooting at my (former) school. Though this one doesn't have that specific urban feel and atmosphere I still like this one very much.
What do you think?

Edit: missed a "p" in the title :)
Edit2: I'm really sorry to here your story Steve. I hope you get well soon.
What do I think? I think if you're going to university then perhaps you should study photography/design. I'm very impressed recently with the quality and imagination of your shots (and it takes a lot to impress me). Still can't believe you are just 18.
Excellent shot!
I was rushed today (hard to say that when you are retired). This one took me about 15 mins, including setting up, shooting (one shot) and editing. Used the Panasonic G1 - what a brilliant little camera for £500. Anyone want to buy a 5D?

I'm glad you're feeling better, Steve: no reason not to join back in, is there?
I like the guys on the cherry-picker, Kit: lots of intersecting lines, and the one guy kind of standing back. I imagine they're careful of each other so as not to push the other guy into the hot line.
Cheers,
Rick
Thought I'd indulge in some high contrast B&W for a change!
I lie, it was all I could come up with....
So, the tops of willow blowing in my garden, and a close up of steel beads set into a decorative mirror in the lounge.....
