Hope this helps Bill. Interesting little exercise. Pretty good colour and clarity overall and I'd have to say I'd be bloody hard pressed to fork out 10K on a 400 or 500 mm prime based on these shots. For casual wildlife or sports photography IMO the 2X III extender would work really well. Obviously for fast action sports photography at a professional level I'd get the 400mm 2.8.
