Re: Results: February 2011 Competition
Well! That puts paid to Colin's theory that portrait shots never do well. In fact they don't normally do well, as a lot of people seem to prefer landscapes. But your shot, Chris, was so different and good that it just had to do well (I thought it would win). Well done, and also to Glen - that's a good composition and it looks great in BW.
Re: Results: February 2011 Competition
Glad I didn't know that...I might have changed the shot...in actuality, I never saw this as a portrait shot as much as I did a mood or setting. So, Colin's theory is still pretty safe my my accounting, anyway. Thanks, though for your support of my efforts. Frankly, I thought yours or Glen's would win and I tossed a coin for #1. So, for blowing theories, to date, I'd picked every winner until this one. Surprise, surprise! :)

Chris, good job! Two things. First, I'd love to be able to do work like that. Second, I'd love to be able to get my foot up on a bar like that! Don't want much do I?
Regards,
Nick.

Your work is quite excellent and I wish it was I who had that shot which took the previous month's win...that shot knocked my socks off.

Beautifully said Chris. We can all teach other, afterall the best way of learn is teaching and all you guys and girls do it very well. Keep those beautiful pictures coming and lets keep this art form alive.

Congratulations to the winners! Those are 3 lovely photographs. Chris, Jeff said he thought your photo was the best you've added to CiC. I'm not sure about that, I've not been around here long enough to know, but it is certainly my favourite from all of the dancers you've been posting recently. Great job.
Re: Results: February 2011 Competition
Thanks, Matt...odd thing about posting is you really never know what image is going to strike at the hearts of your fellow competiors and the voters...I think, for the most part, while it does require a good image to win, it is still a matter of how the dice roll...There hasn't been a competition yet that didn't have a potential winner in it. There have been some I've won which surprised the heck out of me and some that I've submitted which fell way by the wayside that I thought were sure winners...haven't we all had that feeling.
It is fun to win, but I mostly post to see how I look next to other photographers. Winning is just icing on the cake. Losing means absolutely nothing as that photo the next week might have been a sure winner.
Re: Results: February 2011 Competition
That's a very unusual angle of shot Chris which works so well. A worthy winner.
