Taken with the 5D MKII and the 50mm f/1.8 II. It is incredibly sharp!

Err, is that coffee table supposed to have a hole drilled in the top?
Re: NON Square Cropped Portraits - (nSCP's) - please post them here
Alis, I am impressed with the shallow DOF. At which aperture did you shoot ?
Is the table already repaired ? :)

Only in the hands of someone that knows where to focus - and use it wide open at f1.8 (I peeked at the EXIF)
Very nice shot Ali, well done,

Very nice shot Ali, well done,
Thanks, Dave. I just logged in to answer Antonio's question.
As you said, f1.8, @50mm 1/200 second ISO400. Also I used the Gary Fong diffuser on a 580EX II.

That Gary Fong thing looks working very well.:)
Very nice Alis. :)
Good work.

Hi Antonio,
I really like this; pose and composition are excellent and she looks very comfortable.
The only thing that troubles me slightly is why the light on the right hand side is a different (cooler) colour temperature from the hair light on the left.
Best regards,

Thank you for for commenting Dave. :)
That spot at the top right also bothers me but I couldn't / can't help it. :(
It is in the original photo and it really is the Sun coming from our right.
Maybe if I was an expert in CS, I could clone that area somehow.:)
Anyway I am making improvements on this matter.:)
The orange area of her hair on our left is natural.
It was late evening and the Sun was low.
I have done some healing on her skin as well as some blur and a slight, very slight tone of orange/red all over her face.
I have also done a little - very little, a trifle - Liquify to make her face not so large and improve the overall shape of the face.
I also like this image. The crop 3/5 usually used on landscapes goes very well here.
This is not a SCP at all.

I was looking at the other pictures as I remembered that I forgot to tell you: this shot was done with the old 20D with the 1.4 converter and the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS USM - 1/80 f/4.0 @ 200mm
I did it. It was easy. :) How is it ?

This was shot during "Earth Hour", March 28, 2009. That is: No electrical light - just candlelight.

Yes. It's better now. It was needing the color temperature correction.
Nice image and nice lady :)

Yes if this the case, you are absolutely right, I thought there was no electric light and you took the photograph., CANDLE LIGHT EFFECT is vanished due to PP work, sorry...

Maya is now a very grown up young girl. :)
Nice picture Peter. :)
The photo is sharp and well cropped in spite of the background... is that a cat at the right far side ? :):)

Thanks Antonio,
Its actually the back rest of our settee with a cushion hiding the rest. Unfortunately there is little room for manouvre when you have a small space and several children and adults to avoid. I deliberately slightly overexposed the background and used fill flash to make Maya stand out.
Peter

Well done Peter. The flash is not apparently present. :) It looks more a window...
