I feel as you do Antonio...we are all on a learning curve which has no end. We can all learn from and inspire each other but here I sometimes feel like a mouse in a land of giants. Still I keep coming back.

Am still hoping for a SCP of her doing a star jump on her trampoline while she's facing the camera rather than jumping off a bit of a climbing frame and me shooting from the side;)

50mm on 40D - f/4, 1/2000th and ISO 400 with a 550ex flash as the trees were casting a shadow on the subject.

This one is shot at the same concert as my previous one of the two litle boys.
A great concert it was :)

Trying to use the Canon remote control:
(Actually I should call this a self portrait since he triggered it)

PS: This was shot using the new Gary Fong compressible diffuser.

Nice work Andy. Nice use of the HSS. I have nothing to say that it is good.
Or may the just the background could be more homogeneous...
Nice work. Well done. :)
Have you ever tried to "darken" the background increasing the speed like I described earlier ?
Keep them coming please.:)

Jeroen you can do better than this. I am sure. :)
I don't like the third guy hidden behind the guitar. We can see his body but not his face. :p
Good color balance, nice blue spots and orange trails.
Come on post another of this series but an exquisite on, where you show us the mood of the scene and the musicians playing on the stage.
I know it is not an easy job.
But we can always try can't we ?
:)
Hey: I have an idea. Place your camera on a monopod previously focused and with the right settings for the scene. Switch on the timer and up the camera goes as far as you can.
A photo from a higher point than you are. Repeat if it doesn't work the first time.
If you have a cable to shoot the camera at distance much better it is.
You will then be limited by the cable extension, then.
I could remember this as I thought that you might be at their level and that would make an interesting point of view.

But Alis that is a self portrait ! Excellent !:):)
I can remember you saying once that he didn't like to be photographed. If my memory serves me well, he is changing his opinion and taste. Good.
I like that Tupperware look. :D Very nice.
He is thinking: What is going to happen ? Will I make it good ?
And yes it is fine. The camera was on a tripod ?
:):):)

Excellent shot, Andy! The only thing I can add is that the levelling should be done for the top part of the metal structure which now looks crooked, and may be not for the stairs, as you have done it. A little bit of CCW rotation will fix it!

To be honest, as I am most of the times, (yes I wrote most of the times, no one is perfect) I did see the little tilt but forgot to mention.:p
It was a good note Alis ! :)

Excellent colours and clarity in post #351, Alis. Just shows what a good camera the 5D is. And, of course, what a good photographer you are (nearly forgot that one)! :)

Hello Peter, :)
Maya looks cute as she always does. :)
The image is sharp but in my monitor it looks a tad towards orange/yellow.
I do like the shallow DOF :) and the canvas of course ! :)
Take care Peter :)

Hi Antonio,
Wasn't sure about WB but taken from the small part of the whites of her eyes, although I agree its a tad warm. Was shot indoors with natural light on a sunny day.

So, I did a little bit of "glamour" retouching, the blurring and the masking, and all that :)
Hope it is not too artificial:

Hi Peter,
WB looks quite a way off to my eye :(
Often you can use little tricks like that as a starting point, but unless it's a definitive reference (like a WhiBal card) then you still need to adjust it.
I've tried adjusting the skintones by eye - looks like possibly a wee bit of mixed lighting, but this is what I came up with. Someone like Antonio might be able to do better.

Hello Alis. :)
If you have made a nice black and white treatment - with good results and detail enough, great separation from a good and uniform background, posture, expression, giving the young lad the look of a Middle Asian/Arab with rather dark skin and eyes, with that magnificent white spot in his eyes (very exquisite detail indeed), nice canvas and frame - you have done too much glamor/blur (Clarity in LR) for my taste because you introduced a some how too soft face for the young boy in spite of his age.
Maybe he needs a more "masculine" skin ...
This is the only "thing" I can find not interesting, apart from beeing an excellent image, which you are certainly proud of.
A great contribution to this thread indeed. Thank you ! :)
