Antonio, an interesting series of images. Is this form of paving still common in Portugal?

Yes it is Len, even these days the stones are not are high as they used to be as you can see in the last photo.

In old pavements the depth of the stones was bigger contributing to a more durable and resistant surface

Some were done in a garage with two flashes.
The 3.ed one is a guy who was born 3 days after me. A mathematician. In this image one, just a flash on the right side. The light from the left was coming from a window.
Coloured portraits will come as I prepare a set of Collections...
