Sorry to disappoint Donald. I'm not a Scot. More like a converted Englishman, though my ancestry is from North Wales. My only claim on Scotland is that my father served in a Scottish regiment.
Will try again to update my profile. Did it earlier, but must have gotten something wrong.

Oh but you definitely still qualify. Haven't been in Golspie for a couple of years, the last time being en route to Scrabster to get the ferry across to Orkney.
And it's still good to have a fellow Highlander, albeit an adoptive one, on here.
Re: NEW MEMBER? please introduce yourself here
I love photography. Always have. Took a BW class years ago using film. Was fun. Im older. Grad 63, Army Germany Vietnam. (Where I got into photography, I was 20) A lot of my pictures were blurry because I was scared ****less. Well. Reverted to just snapshots with 5 boys growing up. Now want to dip my wick again, now that I am retired. Not commercial. Bought an Olympus Pen E-pl1. Its not really an SLR but digital with a decent 4/3 image mos. Fledgling photoshop user. Need notes closeby. Just did my first HDR (High Dynamic Range). HDR is awesome stuff. I think the line between art and science is getting blurred in photography. I am not sure that is a good or bad thing. I have worked on computers all my life but in the end I am pretty right brain so post production is a plus. Hope that doesn't piss off some of you. Anyway, here to have fun and learn. I try to be respectful in my posts. I am very impressed by some of the images I have seen on here already. Thanks for having me.

Hello! My name is Maureen and I am living in little London, in Ontario. Photography has been a passion for years, but I still have less technical knowledge than I would like. The digital is relatively new ( 5 years) and I need to use the nikon D5000 more effectively, so I am looking forward to the tutorials. Also I have just purchased Photoshop elements 10 and have to learn it as well. I photograph a lot of flowers and nature scenes and love my micro lens. I have started an album on this site. Cheers!

Hello, My name is Elmer and I was searching for information on night photos with lights over water when I found this Website/Forum. I am interested in all I have seen so far. I have been taken pictures for 40+ years, but never more seriously that right now. I look forward to researching techniques with digital as I now have a decent entry level camera. I welcome any and all advise on the above topic!

Hello! My name is Katie and I live in Tempe, AZ, a suburb of Phoenix. I was looking for a place to learn about photography with others, and this seems to be a great place! My experience with photography is limited to the high school dark room and digital point-and-shoot cameras, but my husband recently bought me my first DSLR, and I'm totally hooked. I hope to brush up my composition skills, and I'm currently teaching myself post-processing techniques. The tutorials on this site are fantastic, and I'm having lots of fun with the competitions. Photography is so pleasurable to me, and hopefully it will keep me sane during law school! Thanks so much for creating such a welcoming environment for young photographers like me :D

And that is what should really be about - passion and enthusiasm. If you have that, all the technical stuff can be learned, but being totally hooked cannot. That's got to come from inside.
Great to have you here Katie. I hope being part of CiC can help your learning. P{lease don't hold back from asking any questions. There are always people here very willing to offer advice and support.

Hello Nandkishore and welcome to CiC.
I'm not sure there is anyone on here who would call themselves an 'expert', but there are many very knowledgeable and skillful enthusiasts who will be very happy to share that knowledge and experience with you in order to help you learn. That is the nature of this forum.
I hope you enjoy being part of CiC and that you feel it does help you develop your skills.

I only own a dslr for a couple months, but I loved photography since I remember liking anything. I started to read books and magazines well before I bought my camera.
