Hello Raylee ! Thank you for the comment.
The explanation goes like this
-
Thank you all for the kind words. :) Honestly I think I do not deserve that but… OK. I do do (twice) thank you for the kind words to you all. :)
So, you would like me to tell you how I did it. Here I go. It is going to be a rather long post I am afraid.
I post the original images here, directly from raw without any adjustments.
and the last one modified at my mood of the moment. After all we are talking about creation, aren't we ?
This work has been done on LR.
Then, I turned the 3 main files to black and white automatically in the same program. Piece of cake :) I then exported those files to CS
I have then straighten the verticals and correct perspective. In fact I had already done a lens correction in LR I forgot to say.:(
I turned the layers of the opened files in Smart Layers.
Like this I could place them all in the same document - which I named The3.tiff - and adjust the size to all of them. I mean, adjust the scale of the 3 opened files. It was a "more or less" work. It was not a perfect job. It was just an approximation. Right ?
So I was having 3 Smart Layers in a document called The3.tiff and saved. I then adjusted the size of the files so all match. See what I mean ? With shift down and the arrows at the corners…
Now I was having 3 Smart Layers viewing only the 1.st one (opacity at 100%) but knowing that underneath there were 2 others scaled to fit. Right so far ?
Then I returned to LR and exported the ironed pigeon to CS.
I transformed it into a Smart Layer again and then I placed the file on top of the others creating a new layer (with the pigeon on top).
Command/Control A and then Command/Control T to transform the pigeon the way I wanted. Turned around, scaled etc.
Then I changed the Blending Modes until I got one which could please me. Adjusted opacity was giving me similar results.
When I was happy with the result I saved the files as 01.tif, 02.tif and 03.tif corresponding to the three basic photos.
The rest is easy. Yes, it is so easy as the procedure I have described.
I hope to have made myself clear enough. If you didn't understand anything please let me know.
I will explain again the part you wish as well as I can.
Thank you all for the encouragement.

But Elise does it really matter to know what the image are if you like them ?
Isn't it the dubious part of the image, the interpretation, the personnal view an important part of it if not it's own goal ? :)

In conversation Rob ? I don't understand what you are trying to say to me. Sorry. :(
I don't understand what you want me to translate. It doesn't make any sense to me.

You know Hans, I don't like that much this time. There are better issues, with better images than this specific number. OK it's just me.
But it is a superb magazine indeed.

I want to thank you all for the kind words and for your patiance of reading what I wrote up there. That is, if you have ! :D

Absolutely. And I do like the images very much -- it was just my curiosity getting the better of me! Thank you for sharing how you did it -- very interesting process.

"Em conversa com Antonio." Sim? Hint, hint. :)
Re: Something different? Working with textures.
Thanks for the lesson Antonio. You've inspired me to experiment.

Raylee if you have any doubts let me know please :)
I'll try to explain a better way. :)

It is curious how this thread has made me think and try to do something more than just one image from time to time.
Thank you all again :)

I post another one I made some time ago. Composite picture with iPhone shots and 5D ones.
Danger of falling

You are right on that point, Antonio
They have some better publications.
But the magazine itself is something I really like and what I mis in the other magazines which are full of reviews of the latest camera's and lenses, but no space for Photography itself.

I absolutely agree with you :)
The large majority of the issues are better than this one :)

Thanks Antonio!
I love this image too. The colour in the lower half is seductive and draws me in to the picture. Then the bare branches give me a sense of foreboding. Very effective. Well done and please show us more!
Re: Something different? Working with textures.
Thank you Raylee :)
There is another one here for the moment. :)
More will come.

Wow, Antonio! You see? Full of surprises. Would you consider sharing a little of how you did this? Or is that a trade secret? :)

No Kit. No secret.
We went to Arrábida and I was not carring any camera. Oh that is not true. I was carring the iPhone which happens to be a phone also. :)
I shot the branches with Lisbon in the far horizon.
I turned that photo upside down, placed another layer on bottom which was in the safe with a green detail, made some masks, erased here and there and done.
I have also selected the sign which had been shot with this kind of composition in mind and inserted in the image.
It (the image) tries to translate the disgrace into which Europe is falling regarding growing economies.
:)
Thank you for asking kit :)
Re: Something different? Working with textures.
And thank you for replying, Antonio. You have four qualities that make this possible: a good photographic eye, an ability with Photoshop, an artistic mind and a active social conscience. :)

This is my attempt with textures. I reduced the opacity to about 17% to make it subtle. What do you think?
Re: Something different? Working with textures.
Raylee, I think it needs a little more. :)

Agree. It is hardly percepted :)
It is not an excess :)
Re: Something different? Working with textures.
Hi Antonio
I used a texture pack which can be downloaded HERE This sort of processing can be quite addictive. I enjoyed playing around with this. I have certainly learned a lot from this first attempt. I can see massive room for improvement even as I look at it now.
