Re: Something different? Post your working with textures shots here.
Raylee
I like the styling on both these but the second image is particularly striking. It says what it has to in a simple and effective way without the gore (making it far more effective). The verdict is out on the bright spots but I think they add to the image. The blue put me in mind of electricity. The subjects have a post taxidermic look even though they are living and that in itself is a strong storyline. I love the fact that the eye sees the word murder as an afterthought. I am not sure this type of thing will ever br popular on CiC;) but the second one especially makes the viewer feel uneasy and because that is the case it is a very powerful piece of imagery. The calf could easily stand its ground in any exhibition of contemporary photography. Keep posting this sort of stuff Raylee it is refreshing and thought provoking.

The image is very nice and so is the composition :)

Why mediocrity Antonio? I was feeling introspective when I was planning the image. I was trying to express my feelings visually.

Oh Raylee you are always too kind :)
My work tries to establish connections with the future of this very country and Europe regarding the growing power of certain also growing empires. And of the future of the Earth itself at this mad rhythm !
I know you see what I mean. :)
Terrific, frightening ! :confused:

Hello Ron :)
I do like the way you applied texture to your flowers. Or better, the way you applied the texture to their background. :)
The texture looks a bit like water or something similar, confusing enough to let us have some doubts about what it really is. But that is not important in my humble opinion. What is important is the overall appearance of the image and yes, it does look pleasant.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the flowers would benefit from more colour density. It is a matter of trying and see the results.
For me, you have done a good work :)
Looking at the preview and before posting, I think perhaps - another perhaps - the image would benefit from a little twist/rotation counter-clockwise to make it more dynamic to enhance the natural curve of the lighter colours. Do I make myself understand ? Hope so :)
Close slightly your yes and try to see those colours as an area. Far away from the computer.

Thank you Antonio and Raylee!I do find using the displacement map to be quite fun and love the unpredictability of what you get by combining textures and photo's with this filter.

And, to keep it simple, if we change the blending modes the possibilities are even broader/wider :)

really interesting...:)
It make me feel something that I can't clearly understand... It seems to me that there is a message in this picture.. isn't it?
seagull are used to follow the trail of the boat, and this trail seems to be created by the cross, thus the religion...
perhaps I'm going too far...:o
what is your purpose Antonio? how would you like to title it?

Thank you Nicola for your lines. :)
Very interesting your point of view. The composition is supposed to have a meaning or a message as you said yourself. So, what I did is good under that point of view, at least.
Here we will have the commemorations of the anniversary of Setubal as city.
However the celebration day will be at Bocage day, a local poet well known around here, in Portugal.
Our group of photographers is suppose do illustrate a poem by this man.
I will not translate it to you as it would loose all it's meaning and sense.
The image is supposed to illustrate the poem. :)
But I am not happy with this composition. Today, during the afternoon I have been working on another one but it is not good. I have not erased it so far, but I will tomorrow morning.
And also tomorrow I will try an automatic translation of the poem.
:)

Automatic translation from Google.
We were born to love humanity;
Will sooner or later, the populations of tenderness.
You are attractive, beauty,
What a charming, enticing, persuading.
Ensnare the taste is for freedom;
And after the passion in my soul is found,
So some call it misfortune,
Then some call it happiness.
What is the abyss gloomy sadness,
What joys talks in soft,
With Hope thousand in the idea on.
Love or faints, or stops, or runs;
And according to different natures,
A rivalry, this one forgets, the other dies.
