Thanks for the comment, Pete. I have had another go at this photo and changed the image in my post. Not sure if it is any better but I think I now have a little more colour in the midtones.
In his youth, Fred was a keen sportsman and regularly played cricket, football, etc, he even did a bit of boxing. When he was learning his trade, he worked at the same garage as my father.
I do intend to photograph most people, and boats, that inhabit the quay but most don't like to pose for formal portraits so it is just a quick snap while they are working.
I produced this Gallery of Photos about the Fish Quay a little over a year ago http://www.pbase.com/crustacean/salc...sh_quay&page=1
And I am just starting an updated gallery http://www.pbase.com/crustacean/fish_quay_2010
Well they aren't exactly 'happy' about it, Donald, but having being 'one of them' for over 30 years I am tolerated if I am quick.
Now, if I was an attractive young lady with a short skirt and well filled sweater, things would be very different!
 Davinchi, No it aint.
I'm the same when I'm amongst the farming community that my father was part of all his working life and in which I grew up. It's sort-of looked upon as a bit stupid and the underlying message is that I can't be working hard enough nowadays if I've time to spend on nonsense like taking pictures.
Hi Geoff
I am delighted to view your images of the Fish Quay and must say I like them a lot. I myself spent my working life up to a few years ago as a professional Fisherman and those shots of yours bring back memories,
Keep them coming,
Best Wishes
Pat

Cheers Guys
I am certainly learning by this 'enforced daily shooting' regime - First I set her up outside in the shade, with a reflector on the bottle as if we were doing a portrait - but when we tried inside next to the window, the light came through the bottle and showed the contents which to me worked much better...:)

C&C are always welcome.

Another macro; a little critter found on the hall wall just before midnight on Day 11, unfortunately, the first set of images weren't good enough, so I shot some more, here's one of the best.

Thanks Kay - and for spotting the post title :o (now corrected)
It is cool, but the eye was a little small even when expanded, so here's a 100% crop, 696px square.

Okay, this is that crazy week that made me pause when thinking about committing to PAD. You may see some carpet slippers soon.

'Lust'
I like this one and you have done an excellent job of giving the hands that sensual feel. A story picture. Nice work.
Confess! You replaced them with the brown brogues didn't you. What have I told you about brown brogues and Hawaiian shorts.:DQuote:
Out, black shoes!
That's funny! I can't tell if this is any good or not, i just know that when the pressure gets to be too much, I say, "what the h..." (oops! I don't say it out loud - 3 little boys and pastor's wife, don't you know). Anyway, I do say that inwardly and just point at what I love. I've been enjoying the mums in the planters but love them even more, now that I've studied them through my lens. I'm tellin' ya - this camera thing is magic!
Well, thanks for the encouragement!
