Yes Nik is pretty good for quick edits. Nik was purchased by Google so there are good Nik tutorial videos on youtube.

Dave, here's a version with a white vignette and a white border bounded by a black frame. The black frame was an unexpected addition, but I like that it, and the vignette, draws your eye to the animal. It might be, however, more than a bit too much.

Edit: I just realized that I edited the wrong photo!! My apologizes.
What definitely doesn't work for me is the hard white border inside the vignette, I had envisioned it just being a gentle fade to white all around.
I'm not sure about the black border, but could live with it.
