Re: So, what did YOU do while we were down?
Tried to chase the wife around the house. She told me find something else to do. So I took a nap.

Re: So, what did YOU do while we were down?
I wondered what would happen if I went to POTN and posted pix with the exif present showing that it was taken by a Nikon. #looks for an appropriate smilie and fails to find one#

I wouldn't bother, my dear. They would bite your head off for breakfast (with a few choice expletives) before they even realised you had a Nikon.

EXIF data. Whats that! How much does it cost, is my EXIF bigger than yours, can I buy an EXIF-L to add to my gear list, can I be condescending and look down on you when I get my EXIF?
They do actually have a Nikon thread. It works on the isolation ward principle, if they stick you all in one thread you can't spread the disease. They ran quite a highly subscribed thread that collected members views on the archetypal Nikon/Canon user. Apparently you have long black greasy hair a beard and smoke wacky baccy. Sound familiar...I didn't think so. However the biggest sin is not owning a Nikon but taking good photos with a Rebel and Kit lens. That does not compute, they all nod sagely and explain they have always held the opinion that its the photographer and not the camera but really they just want to string you up from the nearest lamp post with your POTN branded neck strap.

Laughing at both of you!! :D
I have visited That Place a few times, mainly just to ogle and the thing which always, but always puts me off, quite apart from the cyber-trashing that goes on, is this:

I feel much more comfortable in a community such as CiC, where you can at least say hi to the same person/s two visits in a row and remember who they are.

Oh, I thought we were all like that!.
What is this POTN? Am I the only person that doesn't know? And ... we were down! I was on holiday. Must go off and find a post by Sean that probably explains why!

Yes! It stands for Place Of Tiresome Nonsense, but they claim it means Photography On The Net (what a rubbish title for a forum). Don't Google it or a POTN droid will come along and bite your head off after it's called you a SOAB! Do you need that one translating too?

No, managed to work that one out. Had already googled it. Now shut all the windows and have hung a string of garlic round my neck.
What immediately turns you off is the plethora of threads within sections within forums. Far too complicated for a simple wee lad from the crofting lands of the Scottish Highlands.

Gosh they get up to some real intellectual fun. One of their threads is

That one has 4,000 reads. I would have thought it obvious.

Yes, everyone knows a bolt is of lightning (followed by a clap of thunder), or something that keeps the shed door shut ...
... and a screw is something we're far too polite (and off topic) to discuss here :D:D

Well then, no wonder it has had 4000 reads....
