Thank you Ole, it was just a child in the crowd looking at Chinese people during Chinese New Year in Paris.

What a nice expression :) That black umbrella distracts Jean, but I think you can crop some of it without harming the drawing on the RHS. And may be you can change the color of it to grey :rolleyes: I like the image because the man looks happy and he draws people who look happy. So, there seems to be a connection between his mood and his drawings.

PS. I like the conversion.

Hi Binnur, you have an hawk eye:), I propose 2 versions : the original with a lighter umbrella(+ a lighter face), or with your suggestion. What is the best? (originally the umbrella was red so in conversion it gives a black area:o)

That's with crop of top and a slightly brighter face, but not quite as bright (low contrast) as "mod 1" is.

In flicking between them all; trying to decide, I found the white triangle lower right of frame started to attract my attention unduly, partly because it is sharp as well as bright, so if it were mine, I'd try a subtle tone down and blur - barely enough to notice.

He does have a great expression, well shot.

Mod 1 for me Jean :) The umbrella works nicely as a frame and as a part of the environment in mod 1. It is also more obvious in mod 1 that he is a street portraitist and he made the drawing on the RHS. I agree with Dave about toning down the white triangle.

I think this is the best composition so far Jean . IMO the portrait looks so contrasty and detailed that it competes with the man, so may be the tones need some more balancing with your skillful hands :)

the quality of the sketch is the result of his art, I only transcribe his talent........but I'll try to reduce the quality of the sketch as I cannot increase details in his face:(

Of course some more PP might work fine Jean. But as I said in my first post , the expression of the man makes the image for me and I like the way he reflects the same expressions in his drawing ( especially in the looks of the couple). Actually, this is what matters to me and the rest is just some minor revisions ;)

To wake up this thread two versions of the same photo. For me the monochrome version is more readable. Your opinion?

I too prefer the mono, but then I am partial to b&w.[emoji4] Nice shot.

#13 portraitist, missed this one. Nicely captured, the couple looks very happy also; were they still posing while you captured the artist?

Agree about #14, the glaring light must've been a chore to work with.
