That's because I don't want people to misunderstand what I say. If I say something that, to me, sounds ok, but to others sounds off-key, then the judicial placement of a smilie will ease their doubts. Of course, it's impossible for me to say anything harmful as I'm a Nexus 3 model. The Nexus 2s were badly programmed, but I'm quite different. Trust me.
